My Funny Galentine

You know that sister/friend that’s always got your back...but they figure while they’re there, they might as well push and propel you forward into the dreams that you’re too scared to enter? Yes that one. The one that believes nothing is impossible. The one that thinks you’ve got a kick-in-the-butt subscription from their Nobody-asked-you coaching service? Yep, that’s my Funny Galentine.

I’ve known Galentine since we were little girls with big dreams. And if you’ve heard me talk about starting my Tea company, you’ll probably know that it followed a conversation with Galentine about bloating and other beautiful digestive issues. When I created my first botanical Tea blend with Hibiscus, I just gave it away to friends and family until Galentine hooked me into sharing her cake company’s stall at a Wedding fair, and then a local Farmer’s market. That’s the thing about Galentine. She believed in me and my Teas even before they were ‘a thing.’

So it’s my turn to ask you to believe in Galentine, who happens to be the amazing Chinelo from Good Cake Day. Chinelo makes “the most delicious brownies known to man,” according to Readers Digest and anyone who’s tried her brownies! Chinelo saw recent images in the media of the woefully inadequate food parcels for children learning from home during lockdown 3.0. So she decided to donate £5 from the sale of every Good Cake Day Valentine’s Gift Set to Magic Breakfast.

In case you’re wondering, Magic Breakfast is a registered charity “aiming to end hunger as a barrier to education in UK schools through the provision of healthy breakfasts to children living with food poverty.” £5 will provide a free breakfast for 14 children at risk of hunger, and during the lockdown, these food parcels are being delivered to homes with support from the Amazon delivery network.

My family and I are excited to be collaborating with Good Cake Day on the #1000tinsoflove initiative, and featuring our botanical teas in some of the Valentine’s Gift Sets. The aim is to give 14,700 children at risk of hunger a free breakfast by Valentine's Day! It’s called the 1000 tins of love campaign because it will take the sale of 1000 Valentine's Gift Sets to give 14,700 children at risk of hunger a free breakfast. Watch Chinelo’s video below for more information on #1000tinsoflove.
